OUR COMMUNITY, OUR PROGRAM
What?
Who?
Why?
GO Flags places American flags for a small yearly subscription fee at your home, office and/or neighborhood entrances (ask your HOA to sign up) within the Grand Oaks High School attendance zone.
Flags are placed at the subscriber's home for 1-2 weeks at a time, for most major Federal holidays, including:
Labor Day/Patriots' Day
Veterans' Day
Presidents' Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Flags are generally placed and retrieved by our student volunteers on Saturday mornings (some exceptions apply).
GO Flags is a non-profit volunteer parent based organization started by 3 founding Grand Oaks Band/Guard families when Grand Oaks High School opened in 2018: The Lewises, The Osbournes and The Hollands. The program was created with the sole purpose of boosting community patriotism while raising money to support Grand Oaks High School Fine Arts programs.
In 2023, the program was passed onto the Grand Oaks High School Band Booster Association and its group of parent volunteers, who are charged with keeping this successful community initiative going for years to come.
The mission of GO Flags is two-fold:
1) To provide a method by which students in the Fine Arts* at Grand Oaks High School can play a role in their greater community through volunteerism, and:
2) To provide a way to raise funds to support Fine Arts* programs above and beyond what is provided by the school district.
